I forget sometimes meditation is not just something I can do on my cushion, but off it as well. I remembered today of trips to Zendos where it was important, never mind mandatory, to work in the kitchen in complete silence. When talking was necessary? Only a whisper of a whisper. The challenge was to only focus on breath and task at hand. I decided today to focus on the 3-Bs: beauty, baking, breathing - meditatively. When I was done with taking some photos and baking, I realized things went much more smoothly when I just focused on my breath; I realized that my body, my senses new exactly what to do without my willful input. When I did decide to stick my two cents in, guess what? I stopped breathing. The same thing happens when I'm on my cushion focusing on something other than my breath, my breath is either uneven or I literally forget to breath. My evening sitting session is approaching in an hour, but I have to say I feel my day is accomplished. Here are photos representing my 3-Bs:
